FAQ

Do you provide any support between consultations?

If you have an urgent question, feel free to contact us. Note that when you change your diet significantly (and / or take herbs), a condition may flare up first before it gets better. This is the ‘ama’ or toxin coming out. If after a few days, things haven’t settled down, please contact us.

How long does it take to get better?

It depends on the issue. For example, your body wouldn’t experience sustainable weight loss in only 3 weeks. If you have bloating, this may be quicker. We can’t put general times up as everyone is different. It also depends on the root cause. If the root cause is emotional, it is advised to seek out tools to deal with these issues as well, if you are in a place where you are ready to do so.

How safe are the herbs?

I only prescribe herbs from the Ayurveda Institute UK where I trained. These are batch tested by Ayurvedic doctors before they go out to the public. They have been treating thousands of patients over 20 years.

What is the difference between Ayurvedic Doctors and Ayurvedic practitioners?

In India and Sri Lanka, you can study a 7 year degree in Ayurvedic medicine. The Doctor will have the letters B.A.M.S after their name. Outside of India & Sri Lanka, the practitioner qualification is 2 – 3 years. You also get ‘consultants’ who study anything from a short course, to 1 year. Practitioners can treat a level of disease but for anything long term or chronic, an Ayurvedic Doctor may be more suitable for you.

Can Allopathic medicines be taken with Ayurvedic medicine?

In the case of the herbs that I prescribe and am insured to prescribe, these can be taken with allopathic medicines. However, we would further assess this in the consultation.
